SHANGHAI: In one of the best racing weekends to be had, Team FXPrimus Aylezo managed to achieve second place finishes in the Blancpain Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia Series for both rounds nine and 10 at the Shanghai International Circuit.
The Malaysian team of Zen Low and Afiq Yazid of the number 69 car also managed to secure pole-position for round nine held on a Saturday afternoon.
The drivers lost the lead on lap 15, conceding to Andrea Garbagnati in the number six car, but managed to hang on to second place till the chequered flag.
Sunday’s round 10 race saw the team repeating their performance once more, also managing to take second place, making the weekend the most memorable for the team.
“Afiq once again did a great job with a great race on both days, it was a great result for the team. We cannot ask for more! Super happy and we are all looking forward to head home (Malaysia) now,” said Low
Heading up to the race weekend, the team faced a cracked panel under their Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo racecar, which the crew managed to replace before Friday’s official practice session.
However, Low was unable to get as much practice time as Afiq, but a good set-up was found which allowed Afiq to secure pole position for race one, while Low set the ninth fastest lap of the field.
The race series and the team will now be heading back to Malaysia to contend in a back-to-back race of both the season finale and the World Final (where the Super Trofeo Europe and Asia race series are to converge) at the Sepang International Circuit.
