The race restarted on lap 10 and with 2 laps remaining, Afiq pressured Nagabuchi, forcing both Aidan Wright and Nagabuchi to move into the inside line and forced both drivers to make an error. Afiq took advantage after team-mate Aidan Wright who led from the start, and Ren Nagabuchi spun off the track. Wright retired but Nagabuchi managed to continue. He then brought home his first win of the season with a best time of 1:38.741.
Afiq was primed to take his second win in Race 2 after starting from 2nd position. However, his hopes were dashed after he was hit from behind by Ren Nagabuchi behind during the 2nd lap. He managed to finish Race 2 in fifth position. In Race 3, Afiq found himself again leading the race with almost a 1-second gap before the safety-car was deployed. As the safety-car re-entered, he continued to lead the pack before he was struck again from behind during the last turn at the Zhuhai International Circuit. Afiq's car got stucked in the gravel and could not continue. The driver Mat Solomon who finished 3rd in Race 3 was later penalised for 30 seconds added to his race time by the Race Stewards for causing the incident which saw him finishing 8th in the race.
“I would like to thank my team for my first win of the season. Unfortunately, things didn’t go so well in Race 2 and Race 3 – but this is racing and anything can happen. Hopefully, we will fare better in the second round of the Championship in 2-weeks” said Afiq.
